Is this a good first chapter for my book?

I did not finish reading it yet ,but I already found something "The evergreen trees, still clinging to their dark green needles, are coated in the white stuff" What is STUFF??? Explain it more. When you start to talk about the girl you should put another paragraph there. Besides that it was pretty good :D
