I've never felt like Annie was the terrible mother that Ryan makes her out to be. She spent the first years of Emma's life trying to protect her from Crazy Terry. She might not have lost her sanity if Ryan hadn't been so busy chasing after first Kendall, then Greenlee, then Kendall again. Yeah, she had some problems, but he only exacerbated them with his chippy chasing. And poor Emma - I'm surprised the child has any sanity left.
